If you’re stuck at home, whether through remote learning or enjoying a “stay”cation, your child can still be learning while having fun! There is always a way to sneak in engaging academic learning!
This freebie comes with two menus of different engaging activities- reading, math, writing, and STEM. Your child can choose to do the activities horizontally, choose one activity per column every day, flip a coin onto the page, make it a game and roll a die- it’s up to you!
HOW TO USE AT HOME
Post the menu somewhere where your student can see it, maybe on the fridge, in their room, or a “school room”. You could even tie a marker to yarn and post it right next to it so your student can easily mark off each box.
Create some kind of challenge that has a reward at the end (like a trip to the ice cream shop).
Here are some ideas:
- Complete one box everyday
- Complete one box in each category everyday or in a week
- Get a four-in-a-row by the end of the week
- Each row could be one week’s worth of activities (then you’re set for the whole month!)
COMPLETE INDIVIDUALLY OR AS A WHOLE FAMILY
This menu can be used anyway you want. This is a perfect way for your student to maintain academic skills over the summer. And it will help with the “I’m bored” syndrome, too!
Get the whole family involved! Maybe it’s everyone in the house completing the same activity, then each of you can present the work on that activity at the end of the day.
These menus are geared toward 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders but could be modified for any elementary age (or maybe the upper elementary sibling can be a helper!).
