St Patrick’s Day Hallway Display

St-Patricks-Day-Craft-1

St Patrick’s Day is a fun time in the classroom! Here’s a quick and fun activity for March!

To start, I read There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover by Lucille Colandro. The book ends *spoiler alert * with the old lady spitting out a rainbow, which segways into making a rainbow!

As a class, talk about the different ways we are lucky (you’ll be impressed with some of their answers!) It’s a great time to stop and consider what we have that others might not have.

Then, have students complete the sentence “I’m lucky because…” on the St Patrick’s Day free craft.

You can quickly review the colors of the rainbow to know how to color the strips. I love how excited kids get when they can prove they know rainbow order!

For the cutting part, I demonstrate how to bend the pot in half in order to cut the slit. I passed out tape dispensers to each table to tape the pieces. You could try glue, but sometimes tape is quicker, easier, and less messy.

Now our hallway is cute for March! You can put this on any bulletin board or have them hand down from the ceiling. Click the link to grab the FREE St Patrick’s Day Hallway Display!
